About Us

Saving Kittens

Purlates is a first-of-its-kind Pilates studio and kitten adoption center where fitness meets animal rescue. Our studio doubles as a loving temporary home for adoptable rescue kittens, who live and receive daily care in our dedicated Kitten Lounge until they find their forever families.

Our rescue partner Puppykittynyc works tirelessly to rescue unhoused kittens and provides them with shelter, medical care, and love. With more than 500,000 strays in NYC, the need is urgent, and local rescues rely heavily on community support to keep going.

At the Purlates studio, these kittens steal the hearts of guests, who often become fosters or adopters. By simply showing up, you play a vital role in socializing them—helping kittens learn to trust, feel safe, and bond with humans.

Purlates inspires communities to adopt, not shop, while raising awareness about the ongoing kitten crisis. We have never and will never work with breeders. To date, we’ve donated over $12,000 to animal rescues and have helped connect kittens with hundreds of adopters and fosters, creating more second chances and forever homes.

With shelters overflowing, each ticket purchased helps support local rescue efforts and provides care, safety, and brighter futures for cats in need.

Healing Together

Interacting with cats has been shown to lower cortisol, boost mood, and even reduce the risk of heart disease. A cat’s purr—between 25 and 150 Hz—can support healing in bones, muscles, and joints by reducing inflammation, easing pain, and aiding tissue repair.

Our movement routines are designed to build strength, endurance, and flexibility. Together, mindful movement and feline companionship create the perfect recipe for physical and emotional well-being. At Purlates, every class is more than a workout—it's a healing experience.

Our Founder

As a passionate Pilates instructor and dedicated kitten foster mom for the past four years, Darly Murray brought her two greatest loves together to create Purlates—a one-of-a-kind class that blends mindful movement with the joy of animal therapy. Over the past few years, she has fostered over 60 kittens, helping them find their forever homes in partnership with women-owned rescue groups. Darly also holds a degree from NYU Gallatin in Alternative Therapies, deepening her commitment to holistic wellness. Join us on the mat, move with purpose, and make a difference.
